What We Do For One Another: First Mass
mong the numerous
traditions that shape CBA
is the first school mass,
theme of "helping someone in
need". This homily also dealt with
the idea that everything we do for
one another, we do for God. The
informative readings, lively songs,
and dynamic speaking helped to
support the theme. In short, the
mass was truly a worthwhile ex
perience. At the end of the cer
emony, students sang the alma
mater as they looked forward to
the experiences of yet another
promising school year.
which this year was held on Sep
tember 23. The first mass is usu
ally the most significant religious
ceremony of each year, and this
year was no exception. What
made this celebration stand out
from the others was the presence
of the diocesan bishop, Thomas
Costello. One of the high points
of the ceremony was the Bishop's
powerful sermon dealing with the
"In the name of the Lord, I heal
you!", says Mike Bonney to Dan
Kianka, or so it seems. The first
mass at CBA was a time for
students to get back together
again.
