BIOGRAPITY
Stevan Luketi, sculptor, was born in Budva on November 8th 1925. After

years of war (1941-1945) he has spent in barde and in confinement in Montenegro
LUKETI e and Italy, in 1950 he started his artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in
Zagreb, Croatia. He graduated in 1955 from the sculprure department under the
mentorship of the professor Frane Kršinić. He worked as an assistant in the Studio

monuments together with Bakić. He was active participant in social, politic and cul-
tural Iife — he was a presidenr of the Association of Fine Artists, Zagreb, Croatia, the
member of the Board of the Yugoslav Fine Artists Association, and the member of
different committees in number of cultural institutions in Croatia and Montenegro,
He was a laureate of many awards for his sculptura1oeuvre: Art Salon 13' November,
Cetinje (1970 and 1978), 31'd Triennial of Croatian Sculpture (1988). He received the
13"Ju1y Award in 1973, the highest national recognition in Montenegro.
He participated in numerous competitions for creating public monuments all over
the former Yugoslavian State, many of which were avvarded and built afterwards. He
had solo exhibitions in many museums and galleries in former Yugoslavia, Monte-
negro and Croatia: Zagreb, Ljubljana, Cetinje, Titograd, Budva, Sarajevo, Kadovac,

Nikšić, Sveri Stefan, Kotor... He also participated in numerous group exhibitions in
Yugoslavia as well as abroad: Paris, Bari, Rome, Palermo, Milan, Alexandria, Wash-
ington, New York, Montreal, Prague, Brno, New Delhi, Vienna, Bucharest, Buda-
pest, Sofia, Moscow...
From 1987 he became professor at Faculty of Culturology in Cetinje. During the nine-
ties, his public monuments were devastated. He lived and worked in Budva and Zagreb.
Stevan L1.11[čtlĆ passed away in Zagrcb on October 1" 2002.
