Introduction

This treaty covers more than 30 years of experience in hand surgery and microsurgery. It is
primarily based on the treatment of frequently encountered clinical cases; I wanted it to be
practical and illustrated with numerous photographs and X-rays.

It seems important to me to share this experience so that it may benefit trainees, as well as
physicians and surgeons. Providing these resources free of charge felt self-evident.

Upon reflection, I also thought it would be useful for patients to have access to
comprehensive information on potential treatments via the internet, in order to offer an
additional perspective among the many that might be proposed.

I decided to structure this treaty into illustrated and annotated chapters, making it dynamic
evolving chapter by chapter and open to revision. Updates can be done simply and
progressively, according to new information from the literature and scientific societies.

Publishing more than 20 chapters at once was incompatible with my daily clinical
responsibilities and risked endangering the project or postponing it too much. Therefore, I
chose to create it chapter by chapter, sequentially, with the motto “Work and Do It.”

This treaty is published without any external financial support because I also wanted
complete independence from suppliers. Whether it involves sutures or osteosynthesis
materials, the choice of equipment is determined either by the hospital or clinic where I
work or have worked, or by what I believe is most suitable for a particular treatment,
without any financial influence. If the brand name of the equipment or sutures is mentioned,
it will always be referenced with the ® symbol solely for clarity, not for promotional
               purposes.

Finally, regarding the issue of document protection, I have chosen to use a Creative
Commons® license, based on copyright law, in order to promote sharing and facilitate its use
by others. I recommend reading the terms on their website.
