TECHNICAL BRIEF
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
SWORD is the world’s first portable primary radar screening device and software
solution for the detection of on-body concealed weapons. Our device is cost-effective
and offers non-invasive full-body scanning technology that is proven, practical and safe.
Our technology is based on a programmable 3D sensor that looks into subjects
using radio frequency technology that breaks through known barriers, bringing highly
sophisticated sensing capabilities to your fingertips. We use an antenna array to
illuminate the area in front of it and sense the returning signals.
Our software senses the environment by transmitting, receiving and recording signals
from multiple antennas. The broadband recordings from multiple transmit-receive
antenna pairs are analyzed to reconstruct a three-dimensional image of the environment.
The software is capable of short-range imaging into dielectric environments.
The signals are produced and recorded by a System-on-Chip integrated circuit. The
data is communicated to a host device using a USB interface, which is implemented
using a Cypress controller. The SoC has 72 receivers and 72 transmitters with 18
antenna arrays.
Unlike all the systems currently used, SWORD is far less expensive, portable and it
utilizes a single scan for detection, as compared to the numerous scans required by
large, expensive and manned static installations.
