INTRODUCTION:
Many printers need faster cleaning and quick wash up time in today’s fast evolving markets. With digital becoming more
and more competitive it’s necessary for printers to find more cost effective methods of reducing down time. One way of
doing this is to cut back on your wash up time hence the QuikWash System.
The printer can reduce his wash up time by 50% and save on his cleaning chemicals. The printer will also save a lot of
time when changing over from spot colours. Your CYMK colour need to be cleaned on a regular basis or the printer will end
up with ghosting and too much tack on his rollers.
The inking system has one roller that is fixed and the rest all oscillate to spread the ink uniformly across the rollers. When
the printer does a wash up he needs to place the wash up tray in position to catch all the dirt that comes off the rollers.
As the rubber tip wears down your contact area increase which reduces the cleaning angle. This increase your wash up
time and you use more chemicals to clean your rollers. The metal blade does not wipe the edges properly and many
operators need to force the wash up tray against the roller to clean it on the ends.
However, the Flexo Concepts QuikWash systems replaces the thicker rubber tip that is bonded onto a ridged metal blade
holder. The thinner Flexo Concepts Onyx blade is more flexible and fits against the wash up roller. With the thinner tip of
the Onyx blade you get a more consistent and cleaner wipe.
The finer contact area of the Onyx blade in contact with the ink roller is the primary reason for the superior blade
performance. The rigidity of the plastic material allows for a relatively small blade thickness which enables the blade to
maintain a fine area of contact with the ink roller even when worn.
Similar to Flexo printing applications where achieving a precise contact area is fundamental to the blades wiping ability
and a precise contact with the rollers is a must.
