The Annual Sleepover/Lock-In
During the 2018-2019 Conference Year, a writing workshop was conducted by Sister Venita Treadwell.
The annual Sleepover/Lock-in featured career workshops on journalism and pharmacy, led by Sister Di-
ane Hall and Dr. LaQuanda Flagg, respectively. On their field trip to Washington, D.C., DOH members
and mentees visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Museum of the
Bible, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, and other sites.
Service projects included the collection and contribution of newborn baby clothes, blankets, and bottles to
mothers at the Capital Regional Medical Center; and the Families Reaching Families Christmas Adop-
tion Program that provided forty-five families (175) adults and children with Christmas gifts of clothing
and a variety of toys, including bicycles and tablets.
The Daughters of Sarah Allen, an organization of godly, dedicated,
and mature Christian women, is led by Sister
Barbara Green Kelly. Elected as its first
president in 1986, Sister Kelly has served as
president of the ministry 32 of the 33 years
of its existence (She was vice president the
year she wasn’t president). A career educa-
tor, now retired, and a member of Bethel all
of her life, Sister Kelly’s years of commitment
to the mission of the DOSA can be explained
quite simply – she loves working with young
people, and considers it a privilege to help
them develop physically, emotionally, men- Sister Barbara Kelly
tally, and spiritually. She also enjoys working
with like-minded Christian women dedicated to directing and prepar-
ing young girls for bright and promising futures.
New Born Babies Service Project
Barbara Kelly and Marge Martin Many thanks to the Daughters of Sarah Allen for its hard work and
commitment to enriching the lives of young women and girls for thirty-
three years – enhancing their spiritual growth, self-esteem, and equipping them for academic success and
fruitful living.
