M
ayor Andrew Gillum Day was celebrated on Sunday, November 11, 2019. The Bethel fami-
ly and members of the community were invited to come together to recognize the first Afri-
can American gubernatorial nominee in Florida history and his 16 years of remarkable
public service and political legacy as Tallahassee Mayor and member of the Tallahassee City Commis-
sion. Mayor Gillum thanked Reverend Dr. McAllister and the congregation for the tremendous support
they provided throughout his campaign. Reverend Dr. McAllister delivered an encouraging sermon,
based on 1 Corinthians 2:9 titled “This is Just the Beginning,” in which he encouraged Mayor Gillum as
well as the congregation to walk in obedience to God and trust that, in His infinite love and wisdom, God
will work out His will for those who love Him.
Members of the congregation joined Reverend Dr. McAllister at the Tallahassee Community College where
he was honored as one of sixteen community leaders selected for inclusion in the Tallahassee Communi-
ty College Cherry Hill Alexander 2019 African American History Calendar. Reverend McAllister was rec-
ognized for his outstanding contributions as a religious leader, a community servant, and a role model.
Members of the congregation accompanied Rever-
end Dr. Eric Little to Tabernacle Missionary Baptist
Church where he was one of the speakers at Taber-
nacle’s Annual Days of Praise Conference – Hour of
Power. He blessed the attendees with a powerful
sermon, “Here I Raise my Ebenezer,” based on 1
Samuel 7: 7-15. The Bethel Fellowship Choir provid-
ed beautiful music; and Bethel’s Usher Boards also
served.
