3.  Disciplining Elders to run the church.

       He wrote ‘The Biblical Institutes of Religion’ his famous book of God’s principles still in print
       and used widely today. He wrote a commentary on nearly every book in the Bible.


       His teaching, known as CALVINISM, can be remembered by the letters TULIP.

       Five points of Calvinism: -


                    Total Depravity of humans
                    Unconditional election
                    Limited atonement

                    Irresistible grace
                    Perseverance of the Saints

       He died aged 55 probably through overwork. His quote when friends told him to relax was: -

       “What! Do you want the Lord to find me idle when He comes?!” His teaching on predestination
       is still believed by many today.

       Predestination means: - Whether we become believers (sometimes called the Elect or Chosen
       in the Bible) or not is already decided by God before the world was made.
