                                       ‘The Tinker of Bedford’

John Bunyan is still world-famous for his best-selling book ‘Pilgrim’s Progress’. He wrote it in

prison as a result of a dream in which he saw a ragged man with a burden. The story that he

wrote portrays Bunyan’s own view of life as a Christian, which he saw as perpetual struggle.

Bunyan spent 14 years in prison. He was arrested for preaching as a non-Conformist. They

refused to conform to the Church of England. They believed in being saved by faith and in the

Bible as the true word of God. They were suspected of treason, plotting against their country.
