THE VICTORIANS
Truth to Teach (Source)
Hebrews 13:8 ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.’
Romans 15:4 ‘For everything that was written in the past was written to teach
us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the
Scriptures we might have hope.’
Acts 17:26 ‘From one man he made every nation of men, that they
should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set
for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this
so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and
find him, though he is not far from each one of us.’
History is His Story, the story of God’s plan unfolding through the ages.
In a changing world God is unchanging; he is the same through all ages.
God ordains into which age we are born and where we should live.
God has made us in his own image to serve him and one another by stewarding
and developing the earth and its resources for his glory and for the good of
our fellow man.
The differences between the living conditions for the rich and the poor in
Victorian times highlight the injustice evident in the world today.
Each nation has history from which it can learn.
Our lives in the UK today have been affected by the work, inventions and
events of the Victorian age.
