About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns

to God. The other prisoners were listening. Suddenly there was a

great earthquake and the prison doors flew open and everybody’s

chains came loose. Paul shouted to the distressed prison jailer,

“Don’t harm yourself! We’re all here!” The jailer’s family

became Christians as well as the jailer.

God sent the Angel Gabriel to Mary who was engaged to
Joseph.

The angel said, “Greetings, you are highly favoured. You are
to have a son. The Lord is with you.” “How can this be since I

am not married?” asked Mary. The angel replied, “The Holy
Spirit will come upon you and you will have a son called Jesus.”
