You could work with a friend to do these.

Use a 4-spike abacus and 5 beads for each number you make.

1 Find and record answers to these.

a The smallest and largest numbers possible.

b Six 4-digit numbers between 3000 and 4000.

c Six even 4-digit numbers between 1000 and 2500.

d Three odd 4-digit numbers between 2000 and 3000.

e Numbers made by putting beads
on the 2 left-hand spikes only.

f Numbers with a 4 in them in ascending order.

CHALLENGE

Use 9 beads and find
twelve numbers > 6000.
