FISHING DERBY
Wednesday, June 28, 8:00 – 10:00 AM
Come join us for a fishing derby at the MacKenzie Reservoir. We will meet at the senior center and carpool. Prizes will be awarded for
the most fish caught and the
largest fish caught during
our time period. Bring your
own fishing pole and bait. A fishing license is required. Advanced registration requested.
THIMBLE ISLAND KAYAK TOUR
Friday, July 14, 8:45 AM
Branford River Paddlesports will take us on a 2-hour kayak tour around some of the Thimble Islands. All levels of kayakers are welcome. Bring a water and lunch or you can purchase lunch at one of the local stores. The cost ($70 per person) includes transportation, kayak, paddle, lifejacket and guide. Registration begins June 1.
OUTDOOR FUN
TENNIS
Are you interested in getting some outdoor exercise, while participating in an interactive sport? Whether you’ve played tennis for most of your life or have never played before, please come give our group a try! We meet at the Doolittle Park tennis courts on South Elm Street, on Thursday mornings starting between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., depending on the day’s temperature. If you are interested, please call Joanne Bean (203-269- 8840) for details and starting times.
2017 COED GOLF LEAGUE
Our 2017 season began May 2, at Miner Hills Golf Course, Middletown (I-91 to exit 20, Country Club Road), but new golfers are always welcome. The cost for 16 weeks of golf with a cart and picnic on July 5, and awards picnic on the last day of play is $275.00. (The fee will be pro-rated based on your start date.) Call Golf League Coordinator Jim Harkins (203-499- 8785) for additional information.
BOCCE
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 AM
It’s time to enjoy the bocce courts at the Senior Center. Please register if you are interested in playing bocce and join the group any Tuesday or Thursday morning.
PICKLEBALL UPDATE
The Parks and Rec gym is not available to us again until the end of August. We hope to set
up an outdoor court soon. During the summer, we will use the gym at the Wallingford Y. Call Program Coordinator Karen Anderson for details.
MORNING HIKE
Monday, June 12, 9:30 AM
Join Program Coordinator, Karen Anderson for a hike in Bertini Park. We will meet at the center at 9:30 a.m. and carpool to the park. Hikers should wear sturdy shoes or boots. Don’t forget water and hiking poles. Register if you plan to attend.
