Responsibilities of the Chapter executive committee
With the assistance of the Alumni Relations Manager, the convenors and chapter executive committees are responsible for the following activities:
• Create an annual chapter plan and budget for review by the Director: Unisa Foundation and Alumni Relations (Regional Directors should actively participate and contribute insights related to the specific needs of their respective regions.)
• Assist the Alumni Relations Office by organising at least one annual alumni networking opportunity per year. This gathering can serve as the election meeting for the triennial elections.
• Identify fundraising opportunities to advance education. All fundraising done must be approved by the Unisa Foundation and Alumni Relations.
• Assist in referring queries relating to registration, examination and any other university-related matters to the regional office, the Alumni Relations Office and /or the relevant department.
• Build awareness of Alumni Relations among alumni and pre-alumni as well as potential stakeholders.
• Recruit new alumni to the chapter.
• Represent the alumni chapter and Alumni Association at graduation ceremonies.
• Identify alumni social responsibility projects and mobilise involvement and support
alumni volunteer activities.
• Submit progress reports on chapter activities in the region to the Alumni Relations
Manager.
• Provide information for articles.
Convenors Committee responsibilities
• The Convenors Committee consists of all the elected Convenors of the respective chapters.
• The Committee will have two scheduled meetings annually. Other meetings will be scheduled as and when necessary.
• The Committee will elect a chairperson, vice chairperson and additional members. This chairperson will also preside as chairperson of the annual Alumni Association meeting.
• The secretariat of the Committee will be managed by the Alumni Relations Manager.
The chairperson of the Alumni Convenor Executive Committee can be requested to serve on the executive committee of the Convocation.
