• Represents the chapter on the alumni convenors committee.
• Builds a strong alumni support base.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the Unisa Alumni Association.
• Must adhere to the Protection of Personal Information Act no. 4 of 2013.
• Can initiate a communication platform, under the guidance of the Alumni Relations
Office for members of the specific chapter in which she or he resides. These members must provide their particulars on a voluntarily basis. Information must only be used for the specific reason it was collected.
• Participates in strategic planning and tactical implementation for the Alumni Association.
• Ensures that all chapter events are approved by the Manager: Alumni Relations and conducted in adherence with alumni chapter policies.
The convenor as ambassador
• Upholds the University's values: Ambassadors should exemplify and promote the core values of UNISA, including integrity, excellence, diversity, innovation and social responsibility.
• Maintains positive representation: Ambassadors should consistently portray themselves in a positive manner, whether in-person or online. This entails demonstrating respect, courtesy, and professionalism during all interactions.
• Supports the University's mission: Ambassadors should actively support UNISA's mission of providing quality education, conducting research that contributes to society, and fostering community engagement.
• Engages in lifelong learning: Ambassadors should continue to engage in lifelong learning and personal development, staying informed about UNISA's programmes, initiatives and achievements.
• Promotes networking and collaboration: Ambassadors should facilitate networking opportunities among alumni, students, faculty and staff, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the UNISA community.
• Serves as advocates: Ambassadors should advocate for UNISA's interests and contribute to enhancing the University's reputation locally, nationally and internationally.
• Participates in alumni activities: Ambassadors are encouraged to engage actively in alumni events, reunions and initiatives. Their participation contributes to fostering stronger connections between alumni and the University.
• Provides feedback and support: Ambassadors should offer constructive feedback to UNISA leadership and provide support for University initiatives, programmes, and fundraising efforts.
• Demonstrates commitment and loyalty: Ambassadors should demonstrate their commitment and loyalty to UNISA by actively engaging with the University community and promoting its achievements and contributions.
