Preparing your club/federation budget
A budget (or financial plan) is the best way of planning for the future and gives
greater control over club/federation activities. It makes the organisation more
accountable to its members and can even be a motivational tool, encouraging
continued financial growth through results.
Ideally, the treasurer develops a budget for the club/federation. The treasurer, in
consultation with the relevant people or subcommittees, analyses the accounts
to become aware of the cash needs in various areas. They should check the
strategic plan to identify any extra sources of income and expenditure in the
coming year.
The treasurer then draws up a budget showing when money can be spent (refer
to table on the next page) and when it should be held in reserve to cover future
payments.
