PRODUCTION
Launching production was quite challenging because of the time we invested in deciding on a
product. Our first idea prior to the PersTect kit was a large keyring that would contain a travel
bottle of rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer and a few other necessities. We also thought about
products such as a mobile app and digital art, however after much consideration, we decided to
keep the idea of a beneficial product as we continue in this pandemic. This is where the idea of
the PersTect kit came to fruition, but instead of rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer, we wanted
to provide other means of comfort and convenience. The first step we took was to look for our
products which would be our no-touch tool, two personalized mask lanyards, and a silicone mask
bracket. Because we had a total of three different products, we communicated with multiple
vendors at the same time. That made it quite difficult and confusing because negotiating with
many vendors simultaneously about different items can be overwhelming. After about a week of
back and forth emails, we were able to decide on which vendors we would work with. We chose
these vendors based on the following criteria: fast shipping with reasonable shipping costs, a
low minimum order quantity requirement (MOQ), and vendors who were very responsive to our
inquiries. Because of the time it took for us to decide on the product, we were very concerned if
it would reach Guam in time to go into production and whether we would have enough time to
sell all of our inventory before we needed to liquidate our company. As we waited for our
inventory, we began designing our product packaging.
When deciding on packaging, we wanted the PersTect Kit to be visually appealing and presented
in a way which would make a great gift for the upcoming holdiay season, so we decided on a
black gift box. As unusual as it may sound, it was a bit difficult to find gift boxes that were sized
to fit all of our products. Because it was nearing the holidays, gift boxes tend to sell out quickly,
and after a lengthy search, we were fortunate to find a vendor who had the size we needed.
Because we could not let our products sit in the plain gift box, we wanted to add a little bit of
security and a pop of color, so we added some crinkle paper in the colors white and gold to
compliment the theme of our company logo. The purpose of the crinkle paper was to ensure that
our products weren’t rolling around in the box when being delivered and overall just make our
presentation of our item a little bit more attractive to the eye.
