    On September 9, Samaritas West proudly hosted the Meet Your Neighbor event on
    its beautiful Grand Rapids Affordable Housing campus, bringing together families,
    neighbors, and community partners devoted to improving the lives of children and
    families.

    More than 200 residents from the Garfield Park and Alger Heights neighborhoods
    attended, engaging with staff from Foster Care, Refugee Services, Legacy Adoption
    Services, the Independent Living Program, and Behavioral Health. Families
    enjoyed an afternoon filled with laughter, ice cream, cookies, and colorful face
    painting, while children explored instruments with the Grand Rapids Symphony
    and received books and library cards from the Grand Rapids Mobile Library.

    Community partners, including: Family Futures, The Children’s Healing Center,
    Osofomaame, and the Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation,
    shared valuable resources, ranging from developmental tracking tools for parents to
    cross-racial adoption classes and skill-trade programs for teens. Dozens of other
    organizations, including: the Humane Society, ArtPrize, GVSU, and the Grand
    Rapids Fire Department, also joined to showcase their services and support.

    Samaritas remains dedicated to fostering lasting connections among caregivers,
    families, and community partners, strengthening the foundation of hope and
    support across Michigan.
