K1 Class : Water
MS. EVIE
During the past two weeks, K1-1 and K1-2
focused on a very important theme: Water. In
our lessons about water, the children learned
about the water cycle and how water
evaporates and becomes a gas. We also
discussed some of the best ways to save
water! I was also very impressed with my
students’ knowledge about different kinds of
bodies of water (lakes, oceans, rivers, streams,
etc). The children also really enjoyed the
aluminum foil boat experiment, which helped
them understand how much weight was
required to make the boat sink. We also did an
experiment involving shaving cream and food
coloring so that the children could see how
rain is formed.
K2 Class : Water Theme

Last week’s theme in K2 was Water, which is
best-experienced in a hands-on way for
children. Aside from our water play days, we
completed many experiments with water
one was making a rain cloud while talking
about the Water Cycle. We learned that clouds
slowly turn gray as they become heavy with
the water that evaporates and rises up into
them, which we demonstrated with shaving
cream (the cloud) and blue food coloring (the
water). As we dropped the food coloring onto
the shaving cream cloud, it didn’t immediately
rain (leak through). We had to keep dropping
the food coloring onto the cloud many times
before it “rained”. It was so exciting waiting
for the bright blue to come through!
