lined up to play five games each over
Reg Watt’s Winners Paul Bax, Tony Orpin, seven ends.
Barry Hedges & Babs Morokutti After three games had been
played one of the home teams,
Horseshoes, had forged ahead unbeaten on 6pts. Chasing them on 5pts was the other home
team Windmills, East Tilbury & the team from Hertfordshire Bundyites. In the next round of
games Windmills could only manage a 6-6 draw with Woodlands while the Bundyites beat
East Tilbury 9-5 & the Horseshoes beat the Nomads by 11 shots to 1.
So going into the last session of
games the top four teams were Stonyhill
Reds skipped by Dave Ashpole (6pts),
              Windmills skipped by Steve Killington
              (6pts), Bundyites skipped by Chris
Bundy (7pts) but out in front were the
              Horseshoes skipped by Barry Hedges
              with 8pts.
Stonyhill Reds won their last game
by beating GPCA 8-4 but Windmills
pipped them for third place by just
3shots with a 10-1 win over St Andrews,
also worthy of a mention was that in- Finalists Sheila Keal, Chris Bundy,
cluded in the Windmills team was 13 Audrey & Brian Fowler
year old Rachel Cordy playing in her first
ever competition & going on this performance she has a very bright future in the game.
The Bundyites went into their last game needing a win & hoping the Horseshoes lost
their last game for them to snatch the trophy. In a very close game against Canvey Westwood,
the Bundyites were three down after two ends but two fours on ends 3 & 4 put them in the
driving seat & they just hung on for an 8-6 win.
In the Horseshoes final game they dropped a two on the first end against Hatfield Peveral
but pulled it back to be leading 6-3 with one end remaining & then took a six on the last end
to win the game 12-3 & also take the Reg Watts Fours Trophy. The Horseshoes team was
Barry Hedges, Paul Bax, Tony Orpin & Babs Morokutti with the runner ups Bundyites consist-
ing of Chris Bundy, Sheila Keal, Audrey & Brian Fowler.
A big thank you goes to everyone who worked in the kitchen cooking the Chicken Casse-
role lunch and all the helpers on the day, which made it a great success.
