Although they steadied the ship and posted 5 shots each over the next 6 ends, they were
unable to perform one of their Houdini acts and lost 14 to 5. One mat 2, Ruth Crawford 21
completed the season unbeaten when they posted a 6 in the last end against Daphne
Marshall’s rink to win by 12 to 4 . On mat 3, Audrey Gilfillan were also under pressure from
Doone’s rink and, again, lack of decent front end bowls, led to a loss of 14 to 5.
An early3 shots in the first ends of the second half lifted the Donegal camp but Armagh
quickly replied with 17 shots over the next 4 ends against only 2 from Donegal to lead by 22 shots
with only 5 ends to go. On mat 1 Vera Patterson had a ding dong battle with Irish International
Pauline Beattie’s rink and emerged victorious by 8 - 6. On mat 2, Rachel McDonnell's rink were
under pressure from the start against Irene Douglas’s rink and lost by 12 - 5. One the final mat,
Maureen Doherty suffered from too many short bowls and were down 13 -1 shot after 5 ends but
to their credit tightened up and only lost by 14 - 12 against Lisa Douglas's rink. Armagh undoubt-
edly played the much better bowls on the day and thoroughly deserved their win.

played and then a break for tea before the
third and final game was completed.
Three points were awarded for a win
and after the first half there were just four
             teams with maximum points. Bishopsteign-

The third game saw a big surprise for
Buckfast, who went down 14 - 5 to Ab-
botskerswell, which ended their challenge for
the title. Buckland “A” suffered the same fate
losing 8 - 5, as did Bishopsteignton who lost
             10 - 8.
This left Christow’s fate in their own
hands and they duly won 9 - 7 to take the
fours title as the only team with a 100%
             record.
Second place went to Kingsteignton “A”
who came up on the outside with a 17 - 7 win
to give them 6 points and +16, with Buck-
