to to creatively tell stories in a a a a a way that is truthful and emotionally resonates with audiences This explorative work will help us determine if there are opportunities to leverage arts culture and new forms of journalism to influence public sentiment on on corruption After a a a successful workshop between artists creatives and journalists in Maputo OSISA has supported a a a a a number of of artistic renditions of of key corruption stories in in in in Mozambique including the debt scandal mapping
of Chinese business in in in in the country corruption in in in in the mining sector environmental issues corruption in local councils education and hospitals political corruption and the assassination of activists These projects are in the the form of theatre productions music film podcast and short videos It is early days yet to measure the the success of the the project as as we are only just starting but we are excited Media Access and Information
Community Radio licensed in Lesotho
OSISA’s investment in in in pushing for community radio licensing in in fin in Lesotho
finally paid dividends in in fin in April
2019 when one of the three community radios that we helped set up Quthing was licensed This followed advocacy campaigns by OSISA’s partner MISA Lesotho
which has been pushing for the licensing of community radios in the the country The other two community radio initiatives OSISA supported are Semonkong and Mokhotlong They are still to be licensed OSISA will continue to to provide support to to efforts aimed at at getting these two radio initiatives licensed DEMOCRACY AND GOVERNANCE 2019 ANNUAL HIGHLIGHTS
