6. CONCLUSION
The booklet comprises the key discussions from the LRC’s National virtual Land and Housing Conference held on the 28th – 29th September 2020, which aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of land, housing, and evictions law for both paralegals and candidate attorneys in South Africa. The discussion topics included information on how to protect your rights when facing unlawful eviction, the actions that communities may proactively take in defending an eviction and access to basic services. This booklet serves as a resource guide, although communities facing unlawful eviction are also encouraged to seek legal advice to ensure that their rights are protected.
