Sissie! Who Are You Calling A Sissie? ix it is human nature to want to put off making big decisions, especially when they involve money. It’s the easiest because once you’ve gone through this process with me, you will have the knowledge necessary to make a good decision for you and your family. Now, let’s talk about this book with the unusual title that you are reading right now. If you are looking for a book flled with facts and fgures about long term care, this is not it. There are some facts and a few fgures, but I’ve tried to keep them to a minimum. That would be in a book called Long Term Care Planning 101, right? If you are looking for a book that will analyze and compare every Long Term Care Insurance policy from every insurance company and explore every detail of Long Term Care Insurance, this is not that book. Even if I wanted it to be, these things change too fast. If you think this book will tell you what to do and when to do it, well, it won’t. That’s for you to decide with the assistance of a capable Long Term Care Planning Advisor. So, what does Growing Old without a plan for Long Term Care is not for Sissies do? It teaches you in plain English—with a dash of humor thrown in—the things you need to know to make a decision that will affect the rest of your life and the lives of those you love. No pressure there, huh? As you’ve already discovered, my writing style is more conver- sational and less structured than most books available on this subject and that’s by choice. I want you to feel like you are participating in a discussion, not listening to a lecture. That’s why I will occa- sionally add some humor to what is really a pretty serious subject, kind of like adding a spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down.
