          IMPACT OF SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT ON SOCIAL
ADJUSTMENTS AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF STUDENTS

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT :

The School environment is broadly characterized by its facilities like classrooms, health support, disciplinary policies
and practices. It sets the stage for facing the external factors that affects the students. The investigators consider
the following school environment as the major force in social and emotional development of a child.

1. Teacher pupil interaction

2. Classroom interaction

3. Safe and well ordered learning environment

4. Positive power relationship

5. High morale

SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT:

Adjustment is the relationship which is established between the individual and the environment. Every individual plays
certain position within his social relationships. Social adjustment is considered as one of the major contributing factors
in characterizing the individual.

There are various criteria to judge whether a learner is well adjusted or not like:

1) Overall performance

2) Adjustment to different groups

3) Social attitude

4) Personal satisfaction

5) Emotional intelligence

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:

Emotional intelligence is the ability to indentify, use, understand and manage emotions in positive ways to relieve
stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and diffuse conflicts.

Emotional intelligence impacts many different aspects of our daily life such as the way we behave and the way we
interact with others. It consists of three attributes.

1) Self awareness:

a) Emotional awareness             b) Accurate self assessment c) Self confidence

2) Self management:

a) Emotional self control          b) Adaptability                                   c) Optimismd)Commitment

3) Social awareness:

a) Empathy                         b) Political awareness                            c) Service orientation

By providing suitable environment, we ensure the child performs exceedingly well, has physical, mental strength ,
social skills and the child will be confident to face the world.
