LSBA members will receive a 10% discount on software. The “start” subscription package is not eligible
for the discount.
Smokeball agrees to spend a minimum of $2,500 on advertising, sponsorships, and other promotional
activities.
Smokeball will also pay a standard 15% royalty to the LSBA for each new user that signs up. For the
first year, Smokeball will pay the LSBA a bonus royalty for new users. The bonus royalty goes up to
3.50% if over 45 new users sign up.
Since 2012, Smokeball provides full practice management services (client portal, time and billing,
document management, document automation, scheduling and other services) for a single subscription
price. As such, Smokeball is a direct competitor of Clio, MyCase, Practice Panther and Rocket Matter
which offer similar services for one price.
Currently, Smokeball has relationships with these bars: Alabama, Arizona, CalBar Connect, California
Lawyer Ass’n, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota,
Nebraska, New Hampshire, NY State Bar, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah and various local bars in
California and Virginia. Wisconsin is pending.
