A Diversity Committee Strategic Planning Session was scheduled on August 29, 2020, at The Ritz-
Carlton Hotel, New Orleans, LA. The session was cancelled.

On August 23, 2024, the Diversity Committee voted to move forward with strategic planning.

Conclave

Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession

On March 7, 2008, the LSBA held a historic inaugural Conclave on Diversity in the Legal
Profession, for approximately 120 attendees, to begin a discussion among attorneys regarding
racial, ethnic, gender, and generational diversity. The LSBA hosted the one-day Conclave in
cooperation with the Louisiana Supreme Court and several local and specialty bar associations.
The Conclave has occurred annually since that time (not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus
pandemic).

The 16 Annual Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession was held on August 9, 2024, at the
Four Seasons New Orleans Hotel. The theme of the Conclave: Every Voice Counts: Bridging
Divides, Celebrating Differences.

The 17 Annual Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession is scheduled for August 8, 2025,
at the Four Seasons New Orleans Hotel.

Award Information:
The LSBA Committee on Diversity in the Legal Profession approved the recommendations listed
below under “Awards Background” on November 13, 2015. The LSBA Board of Governors
approved the recommendations for the Louisiana State Bar Association Chief Justice Bernette
Joshua Johnson Trailblazer Award and Louisiana State Bar Association Guardian of Diversity
Award on January 15, 2016.
