Annualized meeting through Pro Bono track planned for 2019
LJCC and 2020 LJCC.
o Create materials and trainings to educate judges and judicial
staff
▪ January 2020 event conducted in conjunction with LDJA
to educate judges (mainly in SELA) about ATJ
Commission work that may support their courts.
▪ Assisted with the creation and dissemination of a bench
card and trainings on evictions laws under the CARES
Act for District Court Judges, City Court Judges, and
Justices of the Peace.
▪ Creating materials using the JFA GIS data and map,
including maps of Louisiana that display varying levels
of poverty within civil legal resource deserts, as well as
the Louisiana Supreme Court districts.
▪ Creating guides and best practices regarding remote
hearings.
▪ In September, ATJ Staff and the Judicial College co-
hosted an Evictions CLE which focussed on Eviction
Diversion Programs. The presentation was put together
with the help of legal aid attorneys, district and city court
judges, and LSBA past-president Barry Grodsky.
▪ Created and distributed a Post-Disaster Evictions Bench
Card for the judiciary.
▪ Update ATJ and Self-Represented Litigants Packet for
Judges.
▪ Created a Civil Legal Assistance Reference Guide,
which details how to use the various resources listed on
the LSBA’s Find Legal Help page. The Guide is mainly
judges, court staff, librarians, and others who serve their
community.
▪ The Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities
Committee created a workgroup to provide resources
and training materials regarding disability rights and
issues that affect persons with disabilities across the
state. The workgroup will be working on sponsoring a
new ethics training with Louisiana Law Library.
▪ Share ATJ components of strategic plan with the Supreme Court of
Louisiana and the Louisiana Bar Foundation to garner support; and
The ATJ Commission adopted the strategic plan developed in
February 2019, same presented to LBF.
