Agenda Item 11. Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program – Edward J. Walters, Jr.
Mr. Walters updated the Board on JLAP operations and encouraged members to consider attending
Camp JLAP in July 2025.

Agenda Item 12. Single Billing 2024/2025 – Loretta Larsen
Ms. Larsen referred members to the report on billing/payment of dues and assessment. She noted 611
members were certified ineligible on September 10; however, 269 members returned to eligible status
as of October 9.

Agenda Item 13. Report of the Young Lawyers Division Chair – Kristen D. Amond
Ms. Amond reported that the Young Lawyers held their fall meeting the previous week in Lake
Charles, noting that Immediate Past President Shayna Sonnier attended. Ms. Amond advised that
YLD leaders will moderate Bridging the Gap October 22 and 23. She added that there will be a Wills
for Heroes event in Lafayette October 19 and others were being scheduled. She encouraged Board
members to consider volunteering for these events. She announced that the Young Lawyers
Conference will be April 11 in New Orleans and encouraged Board members and/or their firms to
help sponsor the conference. Nominations for the YLD Awards are open until November 1 and she
encouraged members to nominate young lawyers.

Agenda Item 14. Report of the Treasurer – C.A. “Hap” Martin III
Mr. Martin waived his report, noting that all items had been addressed elsewhere in the agenda.

Agenda Item 15. Report of the Secretary – Valerie T. Schexnayder
Ms. Schexnayder reported that the October/November Journal was mailed and thanked Mr. Mollere
and his Access to Justice team for their contributions to the issue. She noted that the Editorial Board
is finalizing the December/January issue, and they are planning to meet at the Midyear Meeting in
January.

Agenda Item 16. Report of the Immediate Past President – Shayna L. Sonnier
Ms. Sonnier waived her report.

Agenda Item 17. Report of the President-Elect – Edward J. Walters, Jr.
a. 2025/2026 Board of Governors Orientation – Mr. Walters reported that the Board
Orientation in conjunction with the Young Lawyers Division Council will be held
Thursday, May 1 to Saturday, May 3, 2025.
b. 2025 Annual Meeting – Mr. Walters announced the Annual Meeting and Summer
School for Lawyers and Judges will be held Sunday, June 1 to Friday, June 6, 2025, at
Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, in conjunction with the Louisiana Judicial College.
