HON. SHAYNA BEEVERS MORVANT The Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education (LCLCE) is pleased to provide you and the
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT Louisiana State Bar Association’s (LSBA) Board of Governors with a report on the activities of
the LCLCE. As set forth below, the LCLCE continues to promote and support educational
programming in support of the rule of law in a variety of ways.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Since our last report, the LCLCE conducted an eight-hour professional development program in
W. THOMAS ANGERS Baton Rouge. This is part of the We the People: Civics that Empowers All Students (CEAS)
HON. RANDALL L. BETHANCOURT program. The LCLCE was granted a subaward for this program by the Center for Civic Education,
the CEAS administrator for the U. S. Department of Education. A third follow-up training will be
LAWRENCE J. CENTOLA, III held in the Spring of 2025 at the World War II Museum in New Orleans. The participants are all
HON. SYLVIA R. COOKS teachers that attended the 2024 Summer Institute. Each one of these teachers will have their
students conduct a simulated congressional hearing before the end of the school year.
HON. SCOTT J. CRICHTON
The LCLCE recruits schools, judges, and lawyers to make in-school presentations and organizes
BRIAN ENGERON the events. During October, November, and December, the LCLCE’s Lawyers/Judges in the
ALLISON C. FOSTER Classroom program organized 48 in-school presentations, engaging 3538 students.
SENAE D. HALL In December, LCLCE board member Judge Wendell Manning and the LCLCE Executive Director
C. KEVIN HAYES participated in the Louisiana Commission on Civic Education’s meeting and reported on civic
education events that had occurred statewide since the last report to the Commission last Spring.
HON. C. WENDELL MANNING This meeting was held at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. The LCLCE hosted an
exhibition table at the Louisiana Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference which was held
RYAN M. MCCABE at the World War II Museum in New Orleans.
HON. JOHN J. MOLAISON
As of December 31, 2024, the LCLCE checking account balance was $459,601. Funds to assist
RONNIE SLONE with operational expenses were received and deposited from the Louisiana Bar Foundation, the
SHAYNA L. SONNIER Center for Civic Education and from private contributions received through the LSBA dues check-
off option.
