Nellis celebrates 68th Air Force Birthday with 5K

Base members participate in a 5K run dedicated to the 68th birthday of the U.S. Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Sept. 18. The Air Force was established as a branch of
the armed forces Sept. 18, 1947. Before the Air Force became its own branch of the military, it was part of the Army. On Aug. 1, 1907, the U.S. Army Signal Corps formed the
Aeronautical Division, which later evolved into the Air Force.
