FRANKS POINT OF VIEW: Vista of crackling Highway
Patrol cars and Philadelphia police, watching him
helplessly humiliate them from behind the protective
gates of the military base.
Finally, Frank bends over and pats his ass, waving his
fingers from his rear at them.
FRANK'S POINT OF VIEW: This was the limit the law
can endure. Virtually at the same instant the cars fly after
Frank in hot pursuit, heading onto the base, while Frank
slams his car door on himself and takes off in the Merc.
INSIDE FRANK'S MERC - NIGHT
Frank puts the pedal to
the metal.

Whooo ha! Destiny rides again!
He laughs a bit crazily, but he seems to have a good
enough reason.
ROCKLAND AIR FORCE BASE - CARNIVAL LIGHTS OF
CEMENT FIELD OF ICBM SILOS - NIGHT
The Base's missile encampment is now aflame with
lights, almost festive, like the lights of giant oil refineries.
SIRENS BLARE their strange warning sounds, as if from
the throats of huge metal locusts. At the edge of the field
the tank is stuck in the concrete drainage ditch. Lt.
Wharton steps out of the canteen truck he's comandeered;
it's got a flat tire.
General Yeager jumps off his half-track, which barely
