MAJ. GENERAL SORKIN: The traitors in Washington,
D.C.
MAJOR FAULKNER: Looks at his senior officer with an
unreadable expression.
OUTSIDE ROCKLAND BASE - GATE 6N - MINUTES
LATER.
A silver Lexus speeds to the single MP on Duty, stops at the
nearly deserted gate at the far North base entrance. IN THE
LEXUS, Major Faulkner is driving, the MP leans into the
window.
M.P.: Sorry Sir, no vehicles allowed off base today.
Orders of General Sorkin.
MAJ. FAULKNER: Airman, open that gate - I'm on
libation duty for General Sorkin -- .” (the MP seems
confused) “Libation, the General's libation - you know -
the Officer's Club has run out of our leader's favorite
brew -- . (makes a knock-back-a- whiskey motion,
grinning broadly)
MP: Sorry sir, but I'll have to -- .
Abruptly, the Major floors the gas pedal. Not slowing at the
gate, the silver Lexus drives on, breaking the wooden gate
barrier into splinters.
The MP looks after him, startled, then runs to the booth
and grabs the phone.
