II.
A BACKYARD FLOWER GARDEN FLOWING OVER A
CALIFORNIA HILLSIDE. FOUR FIERY CRIMSON TULIP
BULBS are deftly dropped in little containers of potting soil
by a pair of strong male hands. Other taller FLOWERS bend
in the coastal breeze.
A PAIR OF BARE DELICATE FEET pass by. The male hands
pause.
THE FEET: Slip by the tended rows into a patch of green
grass. Without hesitation, the owner of the hands begins to
stalk the female on his hands and knees.
ANOTHER PART OF THE GARDEN: FEMALE LEGS are
hiding in lush tomato vines.
Without warning, the hands reach through the vines, grab
the legs.
A VERY PRETTY WOMAN in shorts and knotted blouse
falls to the ground, while a handsome, strong-shouldered
pilot grips her, and she falls gently, giggling, as he rolls her
body under his like they were still teenagers.
He is General “Bif” Yeager, the Air Force hero and poster
icon for Congressional Hearings and Academy fund raising.
Ace Yeager became the youngest Air Force General in
history, with a wartime flight record for the books, a risk-
taker who likes the harness of the military the way a fast
horse likes a good jockey. This is his wife, LISA, laughing
like a kid.
