NICOLE EVANS
Nicole Evans is the court administrator for 54B District Court in East Lansing. Nicole is
responsible for the daily operations of the court to include personnel, fiscal management,
and technology. Prior to her promotion she served as deputy court administrator and the
city clerk for the City of East Lansing where she spent nearly six years focusing on voter
rights and education.
Nicole is a proponent of technology that enhances court operations and user experience.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she created the concept of a virtual counter using the
Zoom platform to provide continued access to justice while most businesses were shut
down in the State of Michigan.
Nicole has served on various committees through the State Bar of Michigan including
chair of the Special Issues committee which was tasked in 2020 with exploring the impact
of COVID-19 on the legal community and ways to increase diverse representation within
the State Bar Representative Assembly.
Nicole’s passion for people is exhibited through her involvement with various
professional, community, and local service organizations. Most recently, Nicole was
instrumental in coordinating the Mid- Michigan Virtual Expungement Clinic held June
19, 2021, in partnership with Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM), Capital
Area Michigan Works! Safe and Just Michigan and Michigan Legal Help. The first virtual
clinic in this area assisted nearly 100 individuals with convictions in Ingham, Clinton,
and Eaton counties. Nicole later received approval from the Lansing Branch NAACP
Executive Committee to offer financial assistance under its Six Game Changers for the
legal representation of eligible participants of the Clinic.
As an active member of the Lansing Branch NAACP and its Political Action Committee,
Nicole coordinated and implemented virtual candidate forums for the August 4, 2020
Election. She also managed the virtual candidate forums for the August 3, 2021 Election.
In February 2021, Nicole took lead on rebranding the website for the Lansing Branch
NAACP.
After the untimely passing of the previous treasurer in April 2020, Nicole stepped up
to take on the position of treasurer. She is responsible for maintaining the financial
accounting and solvency of the Branch.
Nicole is a past president of the Davis-Dunnings Bar Association and Zonta Club of
East Lansing Area (ZCELA). She is also a former board member for Resolution Services
Center of Central Michigan for which she volunteered as a qualified civil and domestic
mediator. She has been a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program in Ingham County
for over 20 years.
Nicole holds a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Administration.
