PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK
“... in these last days God has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things ...” Hebrews 1:2
TO GOD: Father, thank you for your Son, Jesus, the Word made flesh, who still speaks to us today.
FOR THE CHURCH: Father, may your church once again boldly preach ‘Christ crucified’ no matter the cost.
FOR THE WORLD: Father, may we, with missionary fervour, take the Gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth, starting with our own families and communities.
FOR OUR NATION: Father, may your Holy Spirit move in convicting power, promoting holy living. May your word once again become the foundation of just government.
FOR OUR FRIENDS: Father, may my life declare and affirm the life-changing work of the cross, thereby challenging and attracting my friends to Christ.
FOR MYSELF: Father, may I have a teachable heart, desiring to know you in ever-deeper ways, growing in love and dependence.

EVENING WITH RUTH VALERIO
Environmentalist and theologian, social activist and author
on Monday 16th September at 7.45pm
What is your first response when you hear something about the ‘climate crisis’? What do you do if you feel overwhelmed in your activism?
Ruth, founder of Eco Church, says “wherever we stand when it comes to hope, we know that we must keep taking climate action because, even at this late stage, every fraction of a degree still matters. For many years my motto has been ‘many little steps in the right direction’ – and the
more of us that are able to keep going, the bigger the difference we can make. It can feel overwhelming and hopeless, and I want to be part of a movement pushing for change, not just throwing up my hands in desperation.”
Ruth has a Theology degree from Cambridge and a doctorate from Kings College London, and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Winchester and Chichester and is a Canon Theologian at Rochester Cathedral. She has written extensively on justice, environment and lifestyle issues and is a regular speaker and media contributor.
