Sunday February 8 - All Scripture counts!
Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. Revelation 5:1
In this heavenly vision, we are drawn into the throne room of God, where a scroll – complete, sealed, and sacred – is held in his right hand. This scroll represents the fullness of God’s redemptive plan for humanity. The seven seals represent its perfection and its inaccessibility without divine authority.
The scroll represents God’s sovereign plan – the unfolding of his judgments, promises, and redemption for all creation. Its placement in God’s right hand affirms his ultimate authority and control over history, time and destiny.
This image invites us to pause and consider: what mysteries of God’s will remain unopened in our lives? There are seasons when it seems that we cannot discern God’s purposes, when destiny feels sealed and silent. God alone holds the future. Though we may not always grasp the full picture, we are reminded that the scroll is not lost, misplaced, or forgotten – it is held securely in his hand.
We do not need to fear what is hidden. What is sealed is not lost; it is secure in the hand of the One who reigns with justice and mercy. Our part is not to pry it open, but to trust that he will reveal all in his time.
Lord God, help us to trust in your sovereign plan. Even when we don’t understand your will, may we rest in the knowledge that what is sealed is held securely by you. Amen.
Monday February 9 - Who is worthy?
“Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” Revelation 5:2
The cry of the mighty angel reverberates across heaven, earth, and the realms below: “Who is worthy?” It’s not a question of strength, intellect, or influence – it’s a call for holiness, purity and sacrificial love. And yet no-one steps forward. Not a single being in all of creation is found worthy. The silence is deafening.
This moment confronts us with a sobering truth: no amount of human effort, goodness, or glory can unlock the purposes of God. It strips away pride and reveals our deep spiritual need. In a world obsessed with merit and success, Revelation reminds us that none of us are worthy in ourselves.
But this is not a message of despair – it is one of glorious hope. Because into the silence steps the Lamb. Jesus, the slain yet standing Saviour, answers the cry. He alone is worthy. He alone carries the credentials of the cross.
When we acknowledge our unworthiness, we make room for his grace. Our value is not earned, or achieved – it is received through the One who gave everything to redeem us. Our worth is not self-made; it is Spirit-given, sealed by the blood of the Lamb.
So today, let us walk in surrendered gratitude, not striving for worth but resting in Christ’s finished work.
Lord, thank you that Jesus is worthy when we are not. Help us to live in humble gratitude, resting in the love and the worth that he gives us. Amen.
