Thursday February 12 - The slain yet standing Lamb
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the centre of the throne... Revelation 5:6
What a profound and powerful image this verse offers us. The Lamb – Jesus Christ – bears the marks of a brutal sacrifice, yet he stands. Slain, yet alive. Wounded, yet reigning. This is not a contradiction, but a testimony. The One who endured suffering and death is now exalted in glory. His scars are not erased – they are glorified. They speak not of defeat but of victory, not of shame but of salvation.
In this Lamb we find a message for our own lives. The trials, pain, and wounds we carry do not disqualify us from God’s purpose. In Christ, resurrection follows suffering. His standing affirms that restoration is not only possible – it’s promised. Because he stands, we too can rise.
This verse reminds us that, even when we feel broken or marked by our past, God can raise us to stand in his presence. The slain Lamb is at the centre, not the edge. Your healing and your wholeness begin there, in him.
Sometimes we hide our wounds or feel ashamed of our journey. But the Lamb who bears eternal scars invites us to come as we are. He does not reject the broken; he restores them. Today, bring your scars, your fears, your doubts to the Lamb, who understands. He carries victory in his wounds and offers healing through his presence.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you are the Lamb who was slain but now stands victorious. Help us to stand again, clothed in your mercy and strength. Amen.
Friday February 13 - The scroll is taken
He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. Revelation 5:7
In this powerful moment, the Lamb – Jesus Christ – does not hesitate. He steps forward with divine authority and takes the scroll from the right hand of the One seated on the throne. Where all others searched and were found unworthy, Christ alone is worthy. Where silence, sorrow, and suspense once reigned, his action brings movement, hope, and clarity.
This moment marks the turning point of all history and hope. What was sealed is now being opened. The sealed scroll represents God’s redemptive plan for the world. No-one else could open it. Only Jesus, the Lamb who was slain, had the right. His act is not one of violence or demand, but of obedience and sacrificial love. He takes the scroll willingly, proving again that God’s kingdom advances through surrender, not domination.
When Christ takes the scroll it reminds us that he also takes authority over our lives. He steps into our chaos, our confusion, our questions, and our cries. He does not ignore them. He leads with love.
Let this truth encourage you today: the future is not hidden from Christ. It is not uncertain to him. He holds it; he governs it. And he will bring it to completion. You can rest in the hands of the One who stands at the centre of the throne.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you have taken the scroll. We surrender our past, our present and our future into your hands. Reign in our lives as you reign in heaven. Amen.
