Saturday February 14 - Bowls of prayer
...golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Revelation 5:8
Your prayers matter deeply. They are not lost in the vastness of the universe, nor are they ignored or dismissed. According to Revelation 5:8, they are like incense – sweet, fragrant offerings – rising before the throne of God and held in golden bowls. This is no ordinary imagery. It paints a picture of how precious and sacred your communion with God truly
is.These golden bowls are not empty. They are filled with every whispered prayer, every tear-stained cry, every sigh too deep for words. Heaven collects them; not one is missed. This reality is both awe-inspiring and humbling. It means that the quiet prayers you offer in the solitude of your room are just as significant as the loudest cries of public worship.
Sometimes we wonder if our prayers matter. Are they too small? Too flawed? Too weak? Revelation answers with a resounding No. Each prayer has weight and meaning. They do not disappear into nothingness; they are gathered, preserved, and mingled with the worship of heaven, becoming part of God’s holy plan.
Your prayers do not vanish. They are gathered. They remain. They shape eternity in ways beyond what you can imagine. So do not give up. Whether your voice trembles or soars, whether your prayer is spoken or silent, continue to pray. Heaven is listening.
Lord, thank you that you hear every prayer. Teach us to pray with faith and confidence, knowing that our words are sacred and received by you. Amen.
PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.” Revelation 5:5
TO GOD: Gracious Father, thank you for your promise ‘to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair’ (Isaiah 61:3).
FOR THE CHURCH: Father, may the church rise in full stature as the Body of Christ, active and militant on earth, knowing that our battle is not against one another but against principalities and spiritual powers (Ephesians 6:12).
FOR THE WORLD: We pray for agencies seeking to broker peace and bring aid to war-torn places. Lord, please raise up peacemakers and touch the hearts of people of influence.
FOR OUR NATION: Lord Jesus, we pray for politicians, national and local, that they may serve diligently with wisdom and integrity.
FOR OUR FRIENDS: Father, please may we grasp every opportunity to witness in word and deed to each person you place upon our hearts today.
FOR MYSELF: Lord Jesus, I choose to commit my way to you. Unreservedly, I give my life to you as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is my true and proper worship (Romans 12:1).
