The person who works becomes productive in their service of God and then earns enough to help another is no longer a thief. Instead of, ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme’ this person, in dependence upon Christ, is thinking of others.
Please pray for Chaplains, serving God in our prisons. May such transformation become commonplace!
REV. DAVID FORTUNE
Free Church Chaplain
When is a door not a door?
When it’s ajar! Boom, Boom
OK not my best joke, but it does have a profound truth lying behind it. A door is not a door when it is something else. Answer this question carefully, ‘When is a thief, not a thief?’ When s/he is something else. So, what does the Bible say, ‘Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.’ Ephesians 4:28
Working as a chaplain in prisons I have found it to be far more effective to state what a person can do rather than what they should not do. People usually know what they shouldn’t do! If you are trying to reform or transform with Christ’s help, look at the Bible alternative to see what you must put behind you.
