PRESIDENT’S REPORT
~Submitted by Maureen Wilson~
I’m sure everyone is glad to see the last of winter. I know I am! And, even though the cool weather is still around, I love the sunny days that we are now seeing a bit more often.
This year has a been a bit of a challenge, as we struggle to wrap our head around the new policies (compliments of the CRA) concerning procedures for how we handle gathering money for our scholarships that we give to our graduating students each year. I would like to thank the executive members who have spent so much time and effort on re-vamping our LRTA Policies and Procedures these past few months. We hope to have something finalized, and distributed to our members in time for the upcoming LRTA
AGM on May 29th.
It’s been an interesting four years serving as the LRTA president, but as I have served my two two-year terms, I must turn the job over to someone else. If you are interested in running for president, or any of the other positions, please let me know and I will make sure your name is on the ballot.
We are winding down our 2017-18 LRTA season with one more luncheon before we finish off the ‘school year’. It will be held in the Regency room (the room a little further down the hall) on Tuesday, May 29th. We will be holding our AGM (all positions are up for election), as well as honouring our distinguished members and our lifetime members, at this time.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT
~Submitted by Cindy Silen~
Invitations go out through email to 321 LRTA members and 35 to new retirees. We also have two volunteers, Trixie Martyn and Lois Comerford, who notify members who have requested to be contacted by phone. The luncheon dates are also always available on our website: http://www.langleyrta.ca/ It is our goal to make sure that everyone is contacted, so please let me know if you would like to be added to the invitation group. I’d also like to thank so many of you for your quick response to let us know that you wish to attend. This helps us to confirm numbers with Newlands in advance. We also appreciate your notice to us when plans change which keeps us accurate with our numbers. Our next event is our AGM on May 29th. We will also be honouring our distinguished members and our lifetime members. The Brookswood Secondary senior jazz band, under the direction of Mr. Derrick Turi, will also be performing for us. We hope to see lots of you then!
