Malvern College A Level Business pupils were treated to an insightful business talk delivered by Mr Christopher Nieper OBE DL (OM)
and Chief Executive Officer of David Nieper a a a Derby-based clothing design and manufacturing business Christopher’s talk provided a a comprehensive overview of the clothing retail and manufacturing industry in in in in support of student preparations for their Paper 3 summer examinations which is based on the industry Students were given a a a a fascinating insight into the design and manufacturing process at David Nieper as as well as as an an overview of of the the history of of the the company and its unique selling proposition Christopher then highlighted the the impact of historical manufacturing and contemporary consumer trends in in the industry threats impacting growth (such as skills shortages distribution and supply chain disruption political upheaval currency movements and recession) sustainable manufacturing the internationalisation of manufacturing as as well as as ethical considerations facing clothing corporations small and large The talk concluded with an an overview of the the Christopher Nieper Education Trust in in helping to to resolve the the skills skills shortages facing the UK and provide key employability skills skills to young people On behalf of of the Business Department and wider College we offer our sincere gratitude to to to to Christopher for making the time to to to to speak to to to to our students who will no doubt benefit from the experience Michael Tucker | Head of Business 12
