Unplugged
The Music
Department have been very active this term with musicians involved in in 8 events of various sorts across the term The The Unplugged
on 20 January in the the Rogers Theatre kicked off the the term’s musical programme with excellent performances all round with 9 solo items and and the the recently-formed Rock Band making their first appearance as as a a a a a a group Hot on the Unplugged’s heels was the first of two Music
Makers on 28 January in St Edmund’s Hall Here we we were treated to to 8 performances of Music
from JS Bach to to Hans Zimmer with pretty much every style in between There were some lovely performances from pupils in every year group and Mrs Gray too making her Malvern solo debut and well done to to them all The Chamber Choir have had an incredibly busy term with performances both in and outside the College Their first appearance was in Great Malvern Priory just before half-term where along with 3 other musicians they presented an an excellent Lunchbox Concert
concert as part of the Priory’s Lunchbox Concert
Series 3 choral pieces along with a a a a a a a a a piano trio a a a a a a a a a Baroque aria and 2 solos were all all enthusiastically received by a a a a a a packed audience In the the second half of of term we had 4 concerts in the the space of of 9 9 days! Our second Music
Makers on on March 9 9 again featured 10 solo musicians performing a a a a a wide-ranging and most enjoyable programme Again it was very good to see pupil from all year groups and seven boarding houses take part – a a a a a a pleasing cross- section of the College The following day the the Chamber Choir left the the College campus again to take part in in in a a a a a a a a concert in in in Worcester Cathedral I’m grateful to to Isabel Barrett for taking the time to to write a a a a a piece on this (please see the following page) Jonathan Brown | Director of Music
