Makers On Thursday March 10 the Malvern College Chamber Choir took part in in a a a a a Memorial Concert
for Martin Schellenberg – a a a a a former Director of Music
at Abberley Hall school the concert taking place in Worcester Cathedral The first half of of the concert consisted of of numerous solos from OAs and OMs There was a a a a a a beautiful performance from an an an OM OM Chloe Underwood and and a a a a a solo from current Malvernian and and OA Louisa Marsden-Smedley who sang Panis Angelicus by Cesar Franck They were both met with a a a a huge round of applause from the the audience Along with Abberley Hall choirs and other solos items was the Malvern College Chamber Choir who sang three songs: ‘Sing Gently’ by Eric Whitacre ‘Shenandoah’ – an an an arrangement of a a a a a traditional American folk song by Bob Chilcott and ‘My soul there is a a country’ by CHH Parry The second half of of the programme was a a a a a a performance of of Faure’s Requiem with the Abberley Hall Choral Society and Chapel Choir Malvern College Chamber Choir and members of the Worcester Festival Chorus With Mr Brown unable to to attend due to to Covid the Chamber Choir tenors and basses sang the Libera Me solo They did an an an outstanding job and and I am sure that Mr Brown would have been been extremely proud if he he could have been been there!
I am sure that that all would agree that that it was an an honour and privilege to perform in in in such an an amazing setting and be a a a a a a a part of the celebration of Martin Schellenberg’s life Isabel Barrett (Hundred House No 4)
