FY Trip to the Forest of Dean
At the end of September, the Foundation Year students took part in a four-day residential trip to the Forest of Dean. Working with their tutors they rotated around a range of activities working together as a team and giving them a chance to bond as a tutor group. Whilst storm Agnes did pose a concern for a short time, we were lucky to avoid most of the adverse weather and managed to have most of the time on the trip with dry conditions.
Students navigated their way to the campsite using their map reading skills. Working as a team, they then shared responsibility for navigation before working to set up camp.
A slightly more relaxed mode of transport saw them taking to the water, and in some cases all to literally, spending a few hours canoeing on the River Wye, paddling their canoes whilst playing a range of often pretty wet games.. Continued on page 20 ยป
