Sixth-formers Allen F and Ferdinand M-B have both received awards for their exceptional submissions to the Economics category of the Global Essay Prize competition hosted by the John Locke Institute – recognised as the world’s most prestigious essay competition. They were presented with these awards by former Prime Minister Liz Truss at the Grosvenor House Marriot in Mayfair.
Allen won a High Commendation for his essay ‘Accurate news reporting is a public good. Does it follow that news agencies should be funded by taxes?’, whilst Ferdinand won a Commendation for his essay ‘Do successful business people benefit others when spending their money?.’

Memory Mastermind
Year 8 pupil Andy S continues to demonstrate remarkable talents across the academic spectrum. A recipient of the MCQ Ivy Elite Program Scholarship Andy is currently the Guinness World Record holder for the ‘Mental Calendar’ - meaning that he can calculate the day of the week for a specific date in the future without the help of any calculating tools. Andy has been recognised as a Four-Star Memory Master of Chinese Classics at the Global Memory Championships and has performed multiple times at the Ultimate Brain Summit. He has also been invited to display his memory skills and record for Dragon TV’s ‘China’s Got Talent’! Andy’s talents also stretch to language; he recently won the regional elementary division of the SPBCN International Spelling Bee and was awarded the Excellence Award in the China division, enabling him to participate in the Champion Training Camp! Andy’s academic future is wonderfully bright, and we look forward to seeing him excel further.

‘Buzzing’ Scientist
Year 4 pupil, Kagura, recently secured a remarkable second place at the International Science Bee, sending him through to the upcoming finals in Thailand. We look forward to seeing Kagura representing Malvern on this global platform.

Three exceptional pupils have been recognised in the global Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards 2024 for their world-class academic achievements. Yannie H achieved the highest mark in the world for her IGCSE Art and Design: Textile Design qualification whilst Charlotte P also achieved the highest mark in the world for her IGCSE Chinese! Sixth Former Olivia Q was also recognised for her success as she received the highest mark in Asia for her A-Level Art, Craft and Design qualification. Congratulations to Yannie, Charlotte and Olivia for their hard work and to their dedicated teachers for their support and guidance.
