Piano Prodigies
Year 8 pupil Andy Z recently participated in the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference 2024, held at Monash University. Andy successfully took part in several masterclasses and recitals, learning advanced techniques from renowned professional pianists from across the globe. Congratulations to Andy for representing Malvern College on a global platform.

Asuka, Year 2, recently performed at the regional Piano Teachers’ National Association (PTNA) piano competition and was chosen as one of the finalists to play at national level! Asuka is excited but nervous for the upcoming competition, but we are sure she will show resilience and do the Malvern community proud.

Masterpieces Unveiled
Kira C, a talented young artist in Year 7, recently won the Gold Award in the GASCA French Louvre Exhibition Competition. This year’s theme was ‘Greens’ and Kira impressed with her piece on environmental protection which earned her a brilliant 90 points and a Distinction trophy. Congratulations Kira!

Academic Success Scientific Citation
Hank Q has achieved unprecedented academic success this year. After a rigorous application process he spent 18 months, including an intensive summer camp, working with a Tsinghua University lab on a special research project. Hank co-authored the associated paper, looking at driver drowsiness detection using neural networks, which has been published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Hank then presented the findings of this paper at the 4th International Conference on Computer Communication and Artificial Intelligence (CCAI) in Xi’an, China. This success follows his participation in the Aspiring Explorers in Science programme led by Tencent and top Chinese scientists.
