                                                                  Exceptional Economists
Malvern College Qingdao economists were successful once again at this year’s National Economics Challenge. The challenge tests students’ logical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving skills in micro-, macro-, and global economics. At the 2024 NEC 6 teams with 23 students from the ‘Malvern Economics Association’ (MEA) represented MCQ at the national finals, winning an impressive 41 awards. Remarkably, the MEA came out on top as the No. 1 school team in China for the second year in a row!

       Need a Hand?
Year 9 pupils Zoe, Alison, Ashley and Cayley have achieved an outstanding 1st place in PrintLab’s Make:able 2024 competition. This competition challenges students to design 3D printed assistive devices for people with disabilities. The pupils channelled their creative, engineering and textiles skills to create customised finger prosthetics for Ashley’s grandfather, Jacky, who lost multiple fingers in a workplace accident. They were awarded 1st Place for the ‘Best Showcase of Customisation’ for the under 14 age group with their incredible project ‘Need a Hand’.

Malvern College Hong Kong
    Prep pupils from Malvern College Tokyo have excelled in the national Japanese Sakura Medal Book Review Contest, organised by librarians from international schools throughout Japan. The competition encourages pupils to read and enjoy recent internationally published books and to voice their thoughts through reviews. Emma O and Kazuma did spectacularly well to win Gold, whilst Mio won Silver, and Emma Z and Moe won Bronze.
