RAPID COVID-19 TESTING MACHINE
COVID SAFE AT MALVERN COLLEGE
Malvern College has purchased its own rapid Covid-19 testing machine. The SAMBA II device gives results in 90 minutes and it will enable us to test pupils and staff on the school campus. It has been developed by a spin-out company of the University of Cambridge and it is being used at hospitals around the UK (for example: https://www. cuh.nhs.uk/news/communications/rapid-coronavirus- test-speeds-access-urgent-care). As such it represents a considerable investment by the College in our response to Covid-19. It can test for both coronavirus and influenza and so will enable us to respond rapidly and it should greatly reduce the impact of the pandemic on the school community.
Our College Doctor and Medical Centre will continue to liaise closely with Public Health England and the National Health Service to monitor any suspected cases and to respond appropriately.
