Eco News
It has been a a a a a busy and successful year in in terms of raising environmental awareness in school led by our Eco Team One of of our main focuses of of the year was to to work towards our Eco-Schools Green Flag Award This is is achieved by working towards a a a number of criteria Schools connect their activities to three or or more of the ten Eco- Schools Topics These topics break large global issues like climate change into more manageable and directed themes that prompt young people to consider environmental changes that they can make in their school and everyday lives We were delighted to receive this feedback from the Eco Schools assessors:
“You have provided practical and fun curriculum examples which impressively build on the projects you have worked on on in your Action Plan This is is a a a a a great way to add context to your Eco-Schools work it means young people at The Downs Malvern are given the opportunity to learn about important environmental issues and then the the chance to work on these issues – a a a a a a great dual approach We loved hearing about your your geography links where your your pupils have developed their knowledge on important topics such as deforestation The art created by your pupils using natural materials sounded wonderful! You have worked with a a a a a a variety of different individuals and organisations relying on on their expertise and and passion to enrich and and inform your Eco-Schools journey We enjoyed hearing about your involvement with The Colwall Orchard Group Ekologik Cleaning Products Worcestershire Wildlife and the Born Free Foundation No doubt this was a a a a a a mutually beneficial experience for all all as these individuals and organisations must have also been inspired by your dedicated Eco Team Your Action Plan shows that your Eco Team have carefully considered how they can involve their their entire school in their their planned Eco-Schools’ activities to 14
